iphone car controll.

my innovation is a car controll iphone app, basic idea will be to have a fusionbrain with the cars acc, on and turnover all wired into it and also things such as windows, imobiliser, horn, boot popper, door poppers *, interior lights, headlights, breaklights, reverse lights and parklights.
hopefully running a few addons into centrafuse i will be able to log my iphone onto the pc using wlan change music, volume, etc; then have another addon so certain iphone buttons will controll the fb. i can build the app, just i dont have the suffician program to put it on my iphone additionally i dont have a fb so this is currently just a pipe dream.

Sounds interesting, but it seems like there's two things: CF control and FB control?

I think it would be more interesting to control the fusion brain via bluetooth directly from the phone. That way iPhone and iPad users could use the Fusion brain to control pretty much anything in the car. That would be awesome to see.

Also, I believe you should wire the FB with a DC Psu with shutdown control? Wired via ACC could turn off the FB too soon, no? When engine crank, or when you just turn of the car and still want to listen to music, input something on the computer and control windows and stuff? Just a thought.

I just want to point out that the Qube already has a Bluetooth module in development. The problem is that iPhones don't allow software access to the Bluetooth chip on the iPhone / iPod platform. The only interface allowed is the audio one. You can't access a serial port profile unless you have jailbroken the iPod / iPhone and have special software installed (BTstack) which currently does not have the SSP profile set up.

True. Just find this on the Rev2.0 FAQ section:

Why don't you support USB or Bluetooth OBD-II interface hardware?

We have investigated the new hardware integration features of iPhone OS 3.0, which in theory allows us to support Bluetooth and Dock connector-based hardware. However, after confidential discussions with Apple, we have concluded that WiFi is still the most reasonable option at this moment—both from technical and business perspectives.

We will not be supporting Bluetooth or Dock Connector OBD II connections yet—but we continue to persue this option and will announce any updates as soon as we have them.

So it seems Apple recommends an adhoc wifi network to connect the iphone/ipad to the OBD device.

Is it possible to ad hoc (or otherwise) wifi support for qube? That would be really interesting, for carputers or iphone/ipad platform...

simply put i was thinking more like, the pre-existing apple app called remote, heard of it, it works over wlan, you can wake a computer via wlan so when car is off make computer sleep, then rewake when ready so you can say; if its a hot day wind down windows half hour before you get in car, etc, walking to your car pop the doors*, start the car before you get in of the morning so your heaters are going, if its a hot day wind down windows half hour before you get in car, etc, walking to your car pop the doors*, start the car before you get in of the morning so your heaters are going.

also another thing i will be looking into is showing obdII stats on iphone

is there an addon for CF that controlls the FB?
