questions about lilliput double din(s) - resolution

in the store i see a few lilliput double din units, here are the two in question:

2009 Model
2010 Model

Questions:

1. The stated resolution for the 2009 model is "up to 1024 x 768". But the 2010 model says "Native Resolution: 800 x 3(RGB) x 480". I'm suspicious of that "up to" part of the 2009 model, does anyone have any info about this and whether the 2009 model really has more resolution? i also just realized while typing this that that is a 4:3 aspect ratio, which doesn't make sense....

2. The only benefits i see for the 2010 model are the DVI/HDMI and the brightness has increased from 300 to 450. DVI/HDMI isn't important to me, but i wonder about the brightness. i know it's a 50% increase, but what does that translate to in real life? does it justify the $75 increase?

Both native resolutions are the same for these units. Both have LED backlights as oppose to CCFL. It boils down to how much you care about brightness really. Most people will tell you in the car the brighter the better. Add to that the benefit of installation flexibility. Maybe you dont care about digital connections now, but after you install your 701 and notice the ghosting images and bland color you may wish you bought the 669 over the 701.

My opinion is the 669 is the one to go with. I've had a first generation (low brightness) in my car since it first came out and i've had no problems at all with it. That's not to say you'll have problems with the 701 either... but i'd just call the 669 the best "standard" 7" touchscreen available from lilli.

i have run the 629--same internals as the 701(just a different bezel), the 669 low brightness, and a 669 high brightness.
