Thread: My upcoming media player: neocar media center

Looking good. Is there going to be any GPS integration or external apps embedded available in this software?

I'm currently looking to integrate "Navigon" but unfortunately, it's only for Europe..

But i have allready tried to make a Mappoint based routing and it's on the way

When can we expect an english version of .07?

Is there anyway to jump around the fichiers screen? I have a large collection and hitting the down arrow a bazilliion times get's tiresome. A scrollbar, up/down/pageup/pagedown would make it a TON easier. As well as typing the first letter and jumping to that.

Something I noticed
Say your listening to an album in C:\Artist - Album\Song
When scrolling through the list at the bottom of the screen it lists the "root" path. If your in that screen when a song change happens it automatically changes it to the path your song is playing from. In turn all new directory changes get appended to the "incorrect" name and can't find songs

Wow. I am so impressed. It looks to me (if the app is half as good as the screenshots) as if you are raising the bar (to a MUCH higher level I might add) for CarPC front ends.

The skin app alone looks insane and like something I would expect from a high end commercial application.

As one of the above posters mentioned your english is actually quite good. Much better than my corrisponding french Perhaps you could translate the app to english and us US and UK people could clean it up for you?

I'm impressed to the point that I'm considering changing front-ends as well as offering testing and skinning if/when needed. I do have a few questions though.
First of all, what back-end are you using for playing media? I.E. Winamp, WMP, etc. I ask because I use Tripex3 as my visualization plugin and it is for Winamp only.
Secondly, how much of the visual aspect of the progrom will be customizable? For instance, could the volume controls or any other specific part be hidden or shown as needed? If so, would this be in the program configuration or would it basically be up to the skinner to "show" it or not? Along the same line, could compenents within the program be moved around to the skinner's desire? I.E. moving the visualization to the top right, bottom right, etc.?
Lastly, I'm just waiting on an English translation as I know absolutely zero Frence.

First, lots of thanks for your interest This is why i continue to code

Second: my application use NO back-end application, it's self functionning with a DLL audio library, fmod (fmod.org). The program is absolutely 100% customizable. With the skin workshop, you juste have to select a control and then delete & save to make it hidden in neocar media center. So you can make a low-memory skin with just few buttons. For EACH module, you have also 3 modes of view completely customizable. All controls of the skin can be positioned without any limitation..
And all is possible trough the skin workshop, with no coding aptitudes

For the translation, i'm just:

- finishing the french website
- finishing my hardware project
- and then launching the multilanguage part..
