Yes. databases are always the most advanced, but at times simplicity is paramount. for me my MP3s (as most peoples) are already in the dirctories that sort them into the way I like... My ID3 tags on the other hand are NOT...

so I could have some ID3 tagger and go through my whole friggen library, or I can just use it the way that is most intuitive for me, which is already how most people have their libs setup, which is by directory...

I dont need to click "Artists" and find an artist I wanna listen to, if I know I can find him at a certain spot on my HD.... I've had MP3s for many years, and I know where I keep my stuff organized, so for me it is just best to use whAT is simlest: pure driectories

A.I.M.E.E is a frontend that has been under development for over a year but is still not released. there is a thread on the main software forum

i put in a request for another front end to go for directory style navigation, and i was told to go suck a lemon. your turn

there are reasons for superiority over RR, too. potential simplicity is definitely #1.

but even you crazy people who insist on having a button on the main menu that lets you download and browse dinner recipies or whatever other insane programs you feel you need access to on the road via main menu can still do it in nmc.

that makes nmc elegant.

RR is clunky.

Here are the few advantages of Directory based
1 ) You can upload new music and start playing no need to redo the playlist or update the directory.

i have 200gb worth of music a database is useless for me.

2 ) It's simple this is the way we want the carpc to be when we are driving

3 ) ne need to type on the osk to find the artist you want it is very easy to get to what you want easier and quicker.

Directory browsing is what made media car so popular back in the day it was simple and safe.

All frontends hve advantages but its the basic features like audio and video playback that make or break the software.

Im not biased i did try RR cause nmc was having problems on my system (i had vis settings to high) but i really didn't like the way it works.

I did try frodo and it wasn't to bad im not a fan of non menucentric programs.

Frodo does do directory browsing but ur gotta switch between modes which is a pain

But as i said all the frontends are great but i want something simple safe but has advance features and NMC is it for me

its just funny to me because i guess i listen to music different.

sometimes, but rarely i want to listen to a whole cd/directory. i normally hop around alot... if u look at the list of artists on my pc with just 40gigs of music, its a mile long.. how the ***** do you get to tony touch when ur stuck on az? pound on that scroll button!!!

restructuring databases takes all of 5 min no big deal do it on your way somewhere like i do

or maybe the fe/s should update quicker (xbox media center has a scan feature that takes a few seconds to update stuff).

xbmc also will scan directories and AUTOMATICALLY update stuff based on size and names u use already. good stuff!

i wish a program would allow u to hop around better - click on the artist thats playing (nmc would be awesome at this since it separates that stuff all out already) and a manager comes up with their albums and u click away till u hear what u want!

we'll just have to wait!!!

You're retarded. You can create a skin with as few buttons as you want. But I don't assume you would understand that.
