so on to the consumer part of this

test vehicle is a

2006 pontiac Grand Prix

I have already replaced the stock radio with a usb driven head unit (very pleased to know that the connectors from the oldsmobile i had fit PERFECTLY in that radio) and the dash removal was easy as PIE, with a new din kit it fit perfectly, and there is PLENTY of space behind the dash for the wiring, which means future add ons will be a snap

On a hunch i also removed the center console (With the shifter, all one piece) to see what kind of things can go there as well, so i will have questions soon i suppose, i already have a rough idea of the setup

Second: If this was indeed intended to go into military application 1: you're a couple years behind. And 2: You're either gonna get in alot of trouble, or at the least lose any interest the people you're working with may have in you for posting about such a thing on a public forum if it was sent in confidence. As I do not personally believe this is real, perhaps check out the worklogs section of this forum. There is at least one KITT style trans am if you are interested in that style.

as for confidential statements we released NOTHING in that mailing that can tell anyone anything, no specs or stats of value have been released

First of all, I must say that your goals are lofty. As much as I hope you succeed, I don't see it happening. Here's my reasoning:

1 - You present yourself HORRIBLY in text. Your "original email" is so loaded down with grammatical errors, it's hard to believe anyone in the business world would take you or your project seriously.
Examples: "your" instead of the correct "you're", not capitalizing acronyms such as LORAN, not capitalizing a character name like "Michael Knight" or the television show "Knight Rider" (ESPECIALLY in an email to someone instrumental in bringing about the success of the show!)

2 - The military doesn't allow access to their technologies to just anyone. The poor communication skills you have exhibited here lump you into the "just anyone" category. I sincerely doubt any military brass is going to allow you or your team access to anything like LORAN.

3. LORAN is a system of land-based transmitters and is decidedly outdated technology. If you want to develop a vehicle that will self-navigate, why would you use something as outmoded as LORAN over freely available GPS signals and topographical maps? The only reason that I can come up with is cost... But then again, if you're using outdated military systems and talking up television prop designers, you probably have access to the kind of funding that would allow you to use better technologies such as LIDAR, GPS, topographical data and some 3D modelling.

4. If you're doing this for what amounts to a show car, why don't you go for the DARPA Challenge? The US government (namely the military) is offering big prizes to teams that can create a vehicle that is capabile of self-navigation. For something like this a tribute to a TV show car doesn't make sense.

5. I'm making a lot of assumptions about your SARRAH project, but only because you haven't provided any details about the intended function or purpose of SARRAH.
That in and of itself makes me suspicious.

6. New technologies and systems don't stay under wraps for very long in this day and age. There is absolutely nothing out there about your "SARRAH". I'm not going to say it's complete B.S., but if you're developing something new & useful for both civilian and military application, I'd think someone would have blogged about it somewhere at some time.




So the proof is in the proverbial pudding.
There are a lot of reasons that I've pointed out why we should all disbelieve you and your lofty goals and emails to TV executives. So what are the reasons we SHOULD believe you?
What will SARRAH be capable of?
Do you have any pictures?
Any spec sheets?
Any information at all?

Anything?

the sarrah project is a classified project in the ztek company, and loran is a technology that was tested back in the initial stages, we are now past that,
thanks for the heads up on the outdated info, but we were already experimenting with G-Gps (which is government REALTIME gps, not consumer grade tom tom stuff) long ago!

so what if spelling is bad, our company (and myself directly) work in and around systems used by the NSA, FBI, White house and other branches of government all day long

3. no pics, specs, vids, and NO BLOGS on SARRAH (which i CAN tell you incidentally stands for Self Aware Roving Recon Attack Hybrid) and we are NOT doing this for a "Car show"

The government commissioned and approved our funding in 2006, as for the status of the project well nuff said, and finally as for my typing i am not under the impression a persons typing on something as much as a joke in presentation as the "internet" really matters, and being a former member of the military myself (USMC) i do know some "brass" and will not take that as an insult

ALAS, we were trying to post this as a liftoff to the consumer project, but people let it get way out of hand, so ill remove this if i can and repost to obtain focus,

BOTTOM LINE no one on this forum will ever drive SARRAH, so its moot to even talk about it, the consumer idea is another story.

Do you perhaps mean SDGPS, as in subscription differential GPS that the military uses for its crypto enabled plugger devices? Never heard of GGPS. Come to think of it, never heard of SARRAH or ZTek either.


If nobody will ever drive "SARRAH" then why bring it up? There's no reason to even mention it in your description of what you're trying to do. This is sounding more and more like either trollbait to me, or some kid who had a cool idea for his grand prix, and wants it to be cooler than it really is.

If you post like the above description, you will reciever a reception as to such. There are MUCH better ways to present an ambitious and quite cool project than to act like you're some highly classified company who is trying to leak out information about a project (and for some reason get help on an amateur car computer forum with it?)

Please by all means prove me wrong, prove to us that you are working on something cool like a KITT style voice automation system.

I call B.S.

1. You said that you were using LORAN to build a three dimensional picture from a spinning sensor. That is a sonar application, NOT a LORAN application. LORAN is based on geometry of low frequency radio transmitters and the analysis of the interference between them. It has nothing, NOTHING to do with sonar or audio waves or building a picture of anything.

2. Classified projects are classified for a reason. Please let me know who your government sponsor is as I would like to ask them if they approve of the disclosure of your classified project.
