My "new" diagram....

POWER
1. Battery - fuse - psu - carpc
2. How does one power the LCDs?

AUDIO
CarPC line out - aux in of car

VIDEO
1. CarPC - LCD
2. CarPC - Backup cam

GPS
Is a dongle - how should it be mounted?

OBD
I would like to leave the stock plug there for Nissan to look at it need be - but can I somehow put wires in behind the plugs for the carpc to read?

i have my gps receiver mounted w/ velcro right under the top layer of the dash-- invisible, but pulls a signal great.

you could solder all the wires to the obd port, but this would make for a verypermenant install and could damage the wires.

teh best way would be to use the obd port, but then just remember to unplug it when you bring it anywhere for service.

As for powering the LCD, there are a few ways. The lilliput that he mentioned earlier actually comes with a cigarette lighter plug. Now obviously, that is ugly, but what it means is that you can tap into the power behind the plug and be perfect. You might also use a direct battery power, with some resistance added. But I would recommend the cigarette lighter way. If you did it would come on and off with the car as well.

depends on my the make, my sport trac stays on all the time... but my old 200sx did not... American vs Japan go figure

I was thinking of hooking it up to the power supply - that way it will only be on when the PC is. I have read a few posts regarding this.

Found an old amp kit (for a job that never got installed). Would this work??

- 20ft. 10 AWG
- 16ft. 18 AWG on/off remote wire
- 60 AMP AGU Fuse
- AGU Fuse Holder w/ mount

for a m1/m2/m3, it should be ok, but for anything bigger, IMO, it would be better to step up to 8 ga.

That is what I was looking for - IMO

8ga it is - I haven't really picked a PSU as of yet as I have been reading some issues with the m4 (my first thought on the psu).

Money it tight so I am not in a rush.

What do you recommend as a PSU?

i ended up going with a dsatx, and would personally never go over to any of the M series, and would pick either a opus or a dsatx, depending on the application. IMO, there are just too many things relying on the power supply to cheap out on it.

on the plus side, last i heard, mp3car has tested all of their stock of m4's so if you choose to order through them, it is at least verified to be working by a someone else other than minibox.
