Elantra GT Carputer

First time installing a carPC, but been reading a long time on the forums and think I have most of the stuff figured out. I do have a few last minute questions...

Equipment:
ZOTAC ION Motherboard, DualCore Atom Built in Wireless and HD 5.1 sound
1GB Ram
250GB HD
External USB DVD Drive mounted in center console

Visteon HD Radio (Running Mitch's Cable)

4Channel amp (Run all my audio)
Xenarc Screen

Ok So one question is, what is the best way to input the HD radio sound from the Visteon Box to the PC. Using the two channels for audio it only leaves the Mic-In rather than the Line-In. Does that matter as far as the input if it is Mic-In or Line in?

Other question is what is the most commonly used, or should i say easliy integrated GPS Nav solution in RideRunner? I really like Streets and Trips, but from what I can read its not really intgrated well into the front ends.

Also, I have been reading alot about volume control that is not directly run through the PC, like the Griffin option, due to having no control if the pc locks up. What kinds of solutions are there for this.

all i can really help you with is the volume control-- there are two options:
you can get a 1/2 din eq with a volume knob, and use that, or you can get some JL Audio CL-RLC controllers-- i did a review on them, though, i would be poor at determining if it will work for you, so it might be easier to search for the review and see if they will work for you.

whoo... another EGT carpc!!

I'm using iGuidance and seems to be working rather nicely. Can't say anything about any other program as I haven't tried them.

What year is your Elantra? I got a 2004 Elantra GT that I will be installing on. If you need help, I got most of the planning done. I also have access to Hyundai shop manuals.

I have an '05. Only snag Im running into as of now is mounting the screen. Any suggestions?

Have you put a thought into using a Double-Din mount and hook the screen up to it?

My co-worker (Cmotors on here) managed to pickup his screen from a place that pre-mounted it to the doubledin adapter.

sidenote - you guys should pop over to elantraclub.com and post up some updates there.

bybyte.com (also available in the mp3car store) is the maker of the double din screen kit, though you might still need the mount from crutchfield to fill in a small gap around the screen.

I bought a Metra kit, and have been trying to fit the screen in somewhat nicely and its not working. The screen is just a little to tall for the kit and just having a hard time mounting it and looking nice. I dont want to glue it, as I would like to put it back in its case if I ever decide to part the system out.

Anyone have pictures of their screen mounted in the bezel?

you may need to get your hands on a second Xenarc screen bezel and mold it into the Metra kit.

I can't help you on a picture of screen mounted... as I took the install a little further with the 12" vertical screen.... which I need to re-do the mounting/bezel once the snow goes away. You can see a few pics of mine in my worklog - see sig
