MeeGo looks cool, but it also looks like navigating it without a mouse/keyboard wouldn't be too fun.
I plan on installing ubuntu with xfce (much lighter than gnome) and then installing XMBC. Looks like a pretty sweet media center. It was designed for the xbox, so its easy to navigate.
They have a bunch of different skins, I like this one

tripzero, have you had a lot of problems with linux and touchscreen drivers?
any one have any thoughts on hybrid drives? that seems to be an elusive topic...
-just a thought-
I don't mean the MeeGo netbook UX, but the handset or even the IVI ux:

Both of these are touchscreen friendly. Its also worth noting that XBMC is designed to be used on a TV, not a touchscreen. Don't expect it to be optimized for use in the car either. Have you seen nGhost?.
Yes, there are lots of issues. Using LinuxICE, there are less issues. I've had nothing but trouble with 10.04 and the egalax driver.tripzero, have you had a lot of problems with linux and touchscreen drivers?
When I get meego going on my new system, I'm going to try using the built in kernel driver with some calibration values in xorg and see if that works better.

It uses the SSD as a read cache. It was well reviewed by anandtech. Seems like possibly a good choice for carpc if it doesn't have file corruption issues.
seems like using ssd would be great for improving writes, but not so much for reads. Sure, if you are reading things over and over again it can be cached, but on boot, is all the files you need to read going to be cached on the ssd part? Probably not.
