2003 Jeep Wrangler in dash plan

    Hi everyone!

This being my first post I'll give a quick introduction. Several years ago I got the idea to make a car computer and spent a lot of time reading how-to's and fantasizing about all the fancy things it was going to do then realized I had no money. Now, a few years later I've sold the car originally planned for the install and I'm buying a 2003 Wrangler.

So, present day I'm trying to bring myself up to speed on the new technology that's available. It seems like I can get a lot more stuff pre-assembled today which is great for me since I'm pretty handy with software and stuff but never built a PC from the ground up. So here's my current plan and I'd appreciate some feedback (did I forget anything, will everything work together, etc.)

    Screen:
Lilliput 629GL-70NP/C/T 7" VGA Touchscreen w/ Auto Back-up Camera Switch
I'm not planning to install a back-up cam right away but would like to eventually.

    Computer itself:
    Fanless Micro Intel Vehicle Computer
    Options:
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    4 extra USB ports
    Fully assembled
    Vehicle power supply
40 GB SSD or 40 GB ruggedized HDD (pros or cons?)
    Wifi
    Bluetooth
    Centrafuse Navigation 3.0

    GPS:
    BU-353 Weather-proof GPS Receiver
Will this antenna work if I have to mount it inside the Jeep? I don't really have a roof to mount it on...

    Mic:
Andrea Electronics Superbeam Array Microphone Bundle SUMA

I'm going to use this project as a guide. Is that too ambitious a project for someone who's never done something like that? I'm nervous I'm going to end up with a nasty looking hole or putty all over or something.

I'm also planning on getting a small amp because my understanding is the stock one is in the HU but I'm not looking to upgrade the whole sound system at this time. I should be able to use pretty much any decent amp with this set up, right?

So is that enough to get me started? Besides wiring and stuff is there anything else I need to buy to get it up and running?

    Thanks so much!

1 - You'll have a hard time squeezing all that in the dash. The most common install has a screen in the dash and the PC located elsewhere.

2 - The GPS will work anywhere it has a clear view of the sky.

3 - You're correct about any decent amp being suitable.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Yea I wasn't planning on putting it all behind the dash, is that PC case designed for that or something?

Thanks for the info! Anything else I need to know to get that set up running?

putting it all in the dash is a common thing that many want to do, but have not taken heat, or space constraints into the equalization..
