    Cool My first setup for a Perodua Kembara (4WD) Malaysian Made vehicle (Question)

    Hey guys

    I am a malaysian , and as far as i know, there are very little carputer builds here compared to the ones abroad. Perhaps its because of the unavailability of the parts or the lack of interest as most people here tend to only enhance their cars exterior outlook and their audio system. A good carputer is unheard of!

    This is my ride at the moment (Gathered these pictures from the internet as they look more or less the same. I plan to enchance the exterior of my car <VIP style> where you could find a video in youtube "kembara vip" perhaps in the distant future:

    I am good when it comes to computers, but when it comes to electronics, mainly wiring, i am skill-less. Basically i don't have the know how. I tried reading up based on the installation by different users here , but perhaps i would have to try it on my own to feel better.

    Anyways, i have not finalized the mobo specs yet as i am keen to get an ION based mobo as its both low powered and i could take the mobo inside anytime to watch a HD movie on the big screen. As i have checked, (online and offline), retailers here do not stock on the ION mobos. The readily available ION would be the acer REVO or other nettops.

    Coming to this, i'd have to order from newegg and there is a local shipper in our forums who bulks items from USA for a number of users, at one go. So its not that expensive when it comes to importing these products. However, as i am going to import the main parts, i am hoping to get something that is worth my money.

    My first attempt is to look for a touch screen monitor. I'd like something bright, and with a good contrast. Something that would serve its purpose for a few years. I've checked on alot of monitors here, and i think i'd like to settle on Preassembled Black Double Din LCD Frame with 7" Lilliput 669GL-70NP/C/T-HB-RV HDMI DVI High Brightness

    I am no good at modding myself , so i believe a pre-made one should do me good. My question is, would this fit into my dash panel (as seen on the picture above). I read that on the page that " it fits dash panel kits from Metra and Scosche. ". Mine is however an OEM, that came with the car. Will i have any trouble mounting it? Also, is there any cheaper alternative?

    This would be my first question for now. I shall proceed further once this question is answered

    i had to double check, with this picture:

    but it appears that you should not need any other components to install the screen.

    a easy way to check this is to measure the opening-- the dimensions of the screen are roughly 4" tall x 7" wide.

    also, there are 2 versions of that bezel, i prefer the newer one with the usb port, but i'll leave you to decide on that(if you decide to want the other one mp3car should be able to use it..):

    Soundman98, Thank you for your reply. This is a great recommendation indeed. I like the frame that you've just recomended as the usb functionality seems to be really useful. However, if this is the case, then i would be able to ask mp3 car to purchase the frame for me and intergrate the monitor into the frame, right?

    Also, Say if i were to get this motherboard, ASUS ION, which sort of PSU would i need, as it uses the standard laptop type of adapter to supply power to the mobo. I have seen several smart PSU's where it would shut down the computer after a certain period of time, when the ignition is turned off. I would like that, but i don't know which one would be suitable and how to connect it to the car's battery.

    i believe they should be able to do that, though i haven't specifically seen any confirmation on that..

    otherwise, contact chris from www.mo-co-so.com--he would def. be able to do it..
