Seeking feedback on setup, based on fitpc

    Hello!

Instead of buying a regular dvd/nav/mp3/etc-unit Im planning on building something on my own. A big reason is that my stock HU has some buttons to control the trip-computer, I would like to keep those

I plan to build the setup on a fitpc2-computer
    http://www.fit-pc.com/web/fit-pc2/fi...pecifications/
    with a smal SSD-disk as system-disk with a bigger sd-card for media-storage...

    as display Im thinking
    Mimo 720-F

Im planning to connect the computer to stock HU line-out -> AUX.

At least I can adjust volume with my steering-wheel-controls And the stock-HU can take care oif regular radio-function...

What do you guys think of this setup? It might be a bit on the top side money-wise...
Is the bandwidht of the usb2 enough to play "regullar" DivX-files? SD-DVD?

As for software, Im thinking Linux, beacuse thats what Im most comfortable with on the desktop-side. Thinking XBMC, but not sure how it is handled through touch... Any suggestions? Windows Media Center maybe? Plex?

As for GPS, that might get added later, what is the best software here? Garmin mobile PC?

    Thanks for any input!

    //

I wouldnt depend on the MIMO as the primary monitor. For one, you wont be able to see any bios or anything before windows loads. Also, you're locked into a 800x480 resolution, which for everyday use may be alright but there are some apps that you'll run that wont fit to that resolution.

Hmm as you say, it would probably work for normal day-to-day use...

can you recomend some other display in the same price-range? I liked the idea with usb-connection, easy connect/disconnect if I want to remove the display when I park the car for longer... As it is it the windshield on the arm... Not looking for a fixed installation in the dash... And dont want to advertise there is a nice display/computer in the car :P

But yeah, guess it would be hard to get BIOS or anything on usb-display before drivers are loaded

Anyho, 7-8 inch VGA/DVI touchdisplay below $200? That can be mounted on this VESA-mount?

    Thanks for reply!
