    2007 Mazdaspeed 6

    Hi!

I'm new to the Car-pc world! With my new car, i would like to built a Car-pc in it!
So i have some question for you, but before i'll show you that I did my homework!

First, I just bought a OEM Navigation/Motorized screen tray (With the screen, but I don't know yet what it would looks like. Motorized Screen tray

    My goals are:
    1. Keep the OEM radio functionnal - CD changer, etc.
    2. Good looking screen and fast-booting
    3. Include a GPS
    4. Bluetooth/Wifi + (Maybe OSBDII (depend of the budget)
    5. Front End = Custom skin
    6. Blu-ray drive
    7. Headrest screen - Dual Zone mode (Possibility to listen music/Navigation in the front, and movie in the back (Back would only work with headrest, unless it's the same as the front)

I made myself a shopping list, but i would like you to critic it.

    Hardware:
Motherboard: ASRock 880GM-LE FX Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard
    CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.0GHz Quad-Core Processor
    Memory: Mushkin Essentials 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Crucial M4 64GB 2.5" Solid State Disk *SSD because of the road environment
    Power supply: M4-ATX-HV 250W
    Wifi/Bluetooth card: Gigabyte GC-WB300D*Bluetooth 4.0 + Wifi
Video card: PowerColor Radeon HD 5450 512MB Video Card *For HDMI plug
Monitor: XENARC 700TSH 7" TFT LCD Touch Screen Monitor *For HDMI but i don't really know which one to take
    Total: approx. 700,00$

    Accessories:
    Nav Hardware: BU-353
    Blu-Ray reader: UJ-225B Blu-ray (Slim Slot)
Headrest Screen 7": Really don't know which take.. How to hook up them.. DVI, RCA, HDMI, etc.
    Total: approx. 110$ w/o headrest.. Maybe 310$ w/

    Software:
    Total: approx. 230$
    Big Total: approx. 1240$

    Is it a too big set-up for a Car-pc.. A bit expensive.. But i have 3 screen(Only 1 touch).

    I want you opinion! Thanks!

    1. That CPU has a 95w power draw. That could cause a power issue. You don't need four cores of processing power for anything you'll be doing in the car. A 65w two-core CPU (like the AMD Athlon II X2 250) will minimize or eliminate the possibility of any power issues.

    2. Lose the discreet video card and run the onboard video w/ the VGA connection. You're not going to be rockin' Crysis 3 in the car, so a 3D card is pointless. Teh resolutions on your screen won't be high enough that HDMI vs DVI vs VGA connection will make any difference in video quality on a 7" screen
The ONLY valid reason for a discreet video card is to have multiple video outputs for multiple screens. In that situation, you need to make certain the card is extremely secure in the AGP or PCI-E slot, as regular road vibrations can and will cause the card to work itself loose.
Ever unplugged a video card while a PC is powered on? The results aren't pretty. I can't imagine dealing with that while driving....
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?
