    car pc or carputers

    HI I have a alpine IVA-D300 flip up dvd/cd media player I've been looking at this car pc /carputer I would like to no if any one can tell me if i could put a carputer in my truck and use the alpine system I have maybe threw the Ai-Net plugin so it can be control with the alpine touch screen montor. I guess I'm thing something to convert a PC plug VGA output to Ai-Net plug input can any one help me is there and device that can do this if so please let me no thanks!

    I'm no expert but I don't think it is possible. There are no drivers that would allow your comp to recognize the touchscreen ability.

    In order to use your Alpine headunit as a touchscreen:
    - Break open the unit (that will probably grind this idea to a halt right there)
    - Reverse-engineer and convert the touchscreen to an interface the PC can use (USB or serial - You'll do some soldering here)
    - Write drivers for your OS to control the touchscreen (may or may not be necessary)

    The screen can be used as a display if you can output a COMPOSITE video signal (that yellow RCA jack) from the PC.
    Remember, though, that your screen was designed to play comparatively low-res images from a DVD or game console or broadcast TV signal. A PC resolution is much higher. That will make the image look like mediocre AT BEST. Text will be blurry and the image will likely look like ****.
