Can I use my Athlon64 and Asus mb?

Here's the deal, I'm trying to spend as little as possible on this set-up and I'm really wondering if I should just abandon it now.

I would like to kill two birds with one stone and update my current computer and use the old parts for the carpc.

The current parts I was going to use are:

    Athlon64 3200, i'm guessing the 89watter
    Asus A8n-sli MB
    1gb ram
    slot dvd-rom
then i need to buy the rest.

I'm curious if this will draw too much power? There seems to be a lot of controversy about it, It looks like the dsatx or even m2 power supplies could handle it.
I'm just wondering what others opinions are? Should I just leave my current system as is(its only 2 years old) and buy some lower power components?

It just seems that if I make everything small and effecient I will spend more on this computer than my desktop, or end up having a slow car pc.

    thanks

yeah of course you can use it, just need to connect it to a new power supply and hook it up.

the reason why people dont use older computers as much is because computers draw a hell of alot of power, thus the battery/alternator is more stressed (thus it goes down faster, and doesnt recharge as fast)

instead they opt to go with a mobo and processor that has power saving in mind, thats why you see so many pentium M's and m1000's and laptops, because those give you everything a desktop computer will have, but also use much less power.

it should be able to be powered by a 150W opus... but i would suggest a gpu that doesnt use alot of power in order to make up for the A64.

other than that, looks good =p

and if you ever did just bought two new ones, you can still part this one out and sell it off to people at hardforum or here or something

cool, i actually did my research though and I think the opus 150's main rail will not support the 67w I need(venice chip, 3200). Should I go with the M2? I think the Opus 250 sounds good but is rather expensive and harder to find. I also heard about building your own PSU?

As for a gpu, i have a 128mb video card, low pro.. shouldnt use that much

So is the main point of using the mini-itx the less power use and being able to put it pretty much anywhere? I mean I dont see why people dont use higher powered items when you can just put it in your trunk, i thought it had to do with the power.

    thanks
