    Multiple Monitor Question

    Good day to you all,

My names Qasim and I am planning a in-car laptop or desktop build here in the UK.

My only glitch is that I want to run...

one touchscreen 7 or 8 inch monitor to control the in-car laptop or desktop.
    one-13 inch flip down monitor
    one-22 inch wide screen monitor
    three-9 inch monitors

Is this possible in any way or would the resolutions go wierd, or will I have to get all the same sized screens. I know i need a signal booster either way.

Thanks in advance to this helpful forum.

The car video folks make boosters etc for video distribution within a car.

If they are all standard composite video input screens, then they will all have the same resolution...if you want them to show the same thing, it is easy.

If you want them to all display different things...then you will need a multiple output video card...or some kind of VGA multiple monitor device...like the Matrox triple head thing...

    Thank you for the reply,

I do want all the screens to display the same image but if I display the laptop resolution to a 7-8 inch touchscreen monitor and got a multiple output with a booster, how would that same image appear on the widescreen 22 inch or the other screens...Im kind of scared it might not fill the screens poperly.

I'm not to worried about it not displaying full widescreen on the 22 inch but as long as the image is full like a normal 22 inch.

    Thanks again

16:9 Resolution on a 4:3 screen. Might looked squashed. If your running front end software then you probably wont notice any difference. As long as you output from the video card to a VGA splitter Like http://store.mp3car.com/VGA_Signal_S..._p/adt-004.htm or a more advanced one that can handle multiple outputs then you should be fine.

Here is the first one i found doing a search

    http://www.cablewholesale.com/specs/41h1-14818.htm

This one would just need a 9v power source. Which is easy to get from the cars 12volts.

Good luck, post some pics when your done.

Thanks for the help mate, very useful information for me!

Just one more thing, with that multiple 1-8 video splitter can one of them be a touchscreen? (to a laptop)

Sure. The touch screen is normally connected through usb to the pc. So i dont see where that would be a problem. I even think some people have tried two touch screens. The only problem with two is you have to fight over the controls

Check through the FAQ area. There should be plenty of these answers for you.
