Hey everyone, I joined the forum a couple days ago, and I've been lurking since then, and thought I might as well make a post.I'm not new to computers at all, and I've don't a tiny bit of car audio, but integrating the two is a whole new story for me.
I haven't bought anything yet, as I'm still researching, but I'm getting antsy about starting work, so I'm going next weekend to Gibraltar's technology show, to see if I can get some cheap parts.
I'm planning is to build a tiny media box, straight replacing my stock head unit, and integrating the PC into the stock speakers (for now). I'm going to get the LCD (Hopefully 8", taking more measurements tonight.) and starting testing using my laptop. I want to have everything working together perfectly before even trying to get it in the car.
The only area I'm still uncomfortable with is how I'm going to get the PC to play audio through the stock speakers. I'm pretty sure i need an amp, but I don't know what wattage or number of channels to look for, so I'm fairly lost. Any suggestions?
Space is not an issue, I have some cavernous storage areas I barely use, although I'd really like to build the whole thing into the Double-DIN radio enclosure. I'd have to go at least nano-itx for that, though, and that's too much $$ right now. Anyways, I've just jam-packed a lot of useless info in here, so I'll leave before I make this any more long-winded.
It's almost as if the answer was there waiting for me!
How did I miss that?
Now to buy parts.
