I hope they also taught you to have a thick skin at that training school, because we don't get many 'chicks' around these parts and they tend to get a hard time at the begininng.
Anyway my best advice, and this applies chick or not, is to read as much as you can of the FAQ's that pertain to the area you are interested in. And then search for any subjects you want information on if there wasn't enough in the FAQ's and then finally if the questions you have weren't answered ask questions, providing as much information about what you are trying to do and with what.
Also take a perusal around the projects done by people with similar car(s) to the one you want to install in.
