Steering controls possible without a HU?

Hey guys, I have a '04 G35 Coupe and I just pieced together and ordered my carpc from mp3 car. I know they sell the PAC controller for an aftermarket head unit to get the steering controls to work but is there any way possible having them work if your bypassing a HU and just going with a carpc? Any help would be appreciated.

The SWI-X available on MP3Car will work with the G35 without a head unit present.

Hello I'm a new user from Norway, I have installed StreetDeck on my carputer in my BMW X5 2002 model. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to connect my buttons on the steering wheel to control my StreetDeck. I have read a few threads about this, including Chuck's detailed post about a phidget encoder, but I don't seem to understand how I connect the wires from my steering wheel to the computer. Is there any interface wich I can connect the wires from the steering wheel that will convert the signal to USB?

Stupid question but how does this connect from the steering controls to the computer?

As long as the SWI-X works with your car then all you have to do is get an ir transmitter/receiver that's usb and use a program called girder to transmit that signal. you can program any button to do whatever you want. check this out http://store.mp3car.com/USB_UIRT_Uni..._p/com-018.htm
