Newbie needs help, I'm willing to pay via paypal for assistance!

    Hi everyone,
First off, I'd like to say, this is a great forum. I've done a little research, but still confused and need help. I hope someone could help. I have a E46 bmw 330ci. I know there has been some e46 carpc installs done here. If someone who has done the e46 install is willing to help, I wouldnt mind paying for thier time/assistance via paypal, as i'm sure I'll have quite a few questions.

    Here is the situation:
I had a aftermarket DVD headunit in my car, last month unfortunetly, someone broke in and stole the headunit. A friend of mine had a CARPC and was selling it, so I bought it, being that I always had interest for one. So now, I have the carpc and xenarc touch screen sitting in my room.

    Here is the problem:
I dont know exactly how/where to start! First off, getting sound from the pc to the car. During my research, I found that I could do this http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/faq-...tereo-amp.html

What I'm confused about is, how would I connect the car speakers harness wire, to this new amp? I have alot more questions, but I'll start out with this. Like I said, if anyone would like to offer personal assistance, I don't mind paying via paypal. Please help, my car has NO radio/entertainment what-so-ever =( Thanks!

I'm even confusing myself lol, let me clarify a little:

I have the stock HK system in the car, the amp, and speakers. So I guess my question is, how would I connect the car pc to the existing HK amp/speakers? Any e46'ers please help!

    This may help.

Non-BMW owner here, so take any advice of mine with a grain of salt.

The problem is using the stock HK amp that has a proprietary wiring harness. There must be some sort of wiring harness adapter out there that converts the stock amp inputs in to standard RCA inputs for that amp. Then it would be easy hooking it up, as described in the link that you posted.

This was an issue on my project as well. I was not in the mood to do a full gut of all the audio equipment and start from scratch, so what I did, may work for you, or it may be way out in left field was...

I went to Best Buy and picked up a middle of the road head unit with RCA Aux inputs. This unit had the removable faceplate which made the project possible. I picked up the harness to go from the car to the new head unit and hooked my car PC up the head unit via RCA.

I then chopped the **** out of the head unit and remotely mounted the faceplate of the head unit in the sunglasses holder. Requiring a **** ton on patience, solder, and Ethernet wire. That way I could have the head unit hook up to the harness, had a CD player (as my PC was trunk mounted), and had a fancy flip out controller for the head unit.

That was my way of getting sound to the amp.

I wish I had found this site prior to the install, maybe I wouldn’t have had to deal with all the insanity :-P

    Hello

This Car2PC-BMW may help it will give you and Aux sound input on your stock head unit.

I don't have a BMW but used the Car2PC-MAZ to get PC sound to my RX8 using the factory head unit. Also if you have stearing wheel controls you may be able to get them to work depending on your front end

Thanks for the input guys. Yea, unfortunetly, I have no head unit nomore. I've done a little research and this is how I'm going to attempt the install. please tell me if this is wrong or wont work. Keep in mind my scenario:

    -No Head Unit
    - Stock Amp/Speakers

I purchased a bmw harness adapter from my local audio shop. It plugs right into the harness and provides the wires on the other end. Also, I purchased a hi-low converter from the shop. My plan is to hookup the converter to the harness, then run the RCA wire from the converter to my soundcard. Does this sound like it will work? is there any downside to this? Again I appreciate the feedback guys, I'll check back on this thread for any responses. Thanks!
