Question about best way to trim a Metra install kit

I know this is so simple I've been reluctant to ask, but after searching I haven't come across any direct answers. If I need to trim the opening of my Metra install kit to better accomodate an install, what is the best way to do so? With a utility knife, Dremel, lazer beam? Again, really simple, but as they say "measure twice cut once". I need to take off less than 1/4 inch, and I want to make sure it comes out clean the first time. The Metra Kit (95-3302) is just ever so slighty too small on the inside for the face of my Infill G4.

depends on how much you need to trim. If it's just a bit, I'd get a file and use that.

Not a nail file, but something like a metal or plastic file.

You can also use a razor knife if you heat it up with a torch or a lighter.
    VOILA!

    A hot-knife.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?
