    n00b needs help

I have a dell sx260 and a flip out screen that I want to install.

Do I need a voltage regulator like the dsx12v or just wire it up with 8g wire, relay and switch directly to my car battery?

    OR

Can someone fill me in on this carnetrix stuff. How does the power up/shutdown work? does the carnetix have everything I need built right in? And how does it wire up?

Please let me know so I can order whatever I need now. I want to start this project on Friday

SOoo many options for power supplies, how do I choose?
I like the idea of running no switch so a startup/shutdown controller would be good, only I'm not sure exactly how it works..

Ok, after all this searching I'm confused.
    I have the following:
    sx260
    in dash flip out

what I need: power supply supply solution

I'm not a fan of having any buttons or anything like that in my car, I want everything as clean as possible.
So can I get by with ONLY 2140 or do I need a dsx12v or dsx12vd as well?

    so confused

If you haven't found what you needed to know on these forums, even after a bit of help, a ready made system is the best for you.

First of all, I'm certain that REd will not appreciate being referred to as "son", as she is a female and probably olde than you.

There is so much information about your mini Dell that it's not even funny. If you're not willing to take the time to pull out the pertinent information, then you should follow this advice:

Dells have specific issues because of their architecture. They can be overcome, but you need to do some research and make some modifications to make it work.
If you're not willing to learn what those are and put in some effort, then we can't really help you.

The information is here. You have to go get it.

Good luck and welcome to our madness.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?
