Ok, I read the FAQs but have a few questions.

Ok well I have been into computers for a while, but never into the whole CarPC scene. I have a spare computer at home with a 2.4ghz p4 processor, 1gb ram, 150gb hdd, and onboard video/sound. I'm not sure was PSU is on it. I'm going to be installing the CarPC into my Mazda 3, probably in the glove box. I also have a power inverter already installed in my car. It's wired from the battery, through a 30amp fuse, to under the seat. Moving it to the glove box wouldn't be a problem. So from what I can tell, I need a "shutdown" module to control the shutdown process of the computer. So can I basically take apart the computer in my house, install it in the glovebox(neatly of course), and call it a day? Haha, I'm just kidding. I would buy a 7" monitor and install it under my headunit. I have an auxillary port in my center console, and as of right now I assume that I can run an aux-aux cord from my sound card to the aux port. The VGA from the monitor to the back of the glovebox.
Here's my confusion; power supplies. I've read the FAQ but I was still somewhat confused. Can I use a regular desktop PSU and plug it into my inverter? Also, with a VGA touch screen monitor, can I still navigate the windows desktop? I also don't understand what the Car will do if I just turn the car off and run into a store. Thanks for the help everyone. I've read the FAQs but I'm a hardhead and don't understand everything that I read. It would be REALLY great if someone could talk to me on AIM. Thanks!

Maybe.

    Yes.

    Yes.

    Yes.

    Yes.

Eventually run the battery down till it is dead...unless you get some kind of shutdown controller that will turn off the computer, and disconnect it from battery power when the car battery voltage drops below a certain level.

Ok thanks for the reply. I hear there are PSUs with shut down modules built in. Are these wise investments? Do you think they will supply enough power to power my setup?

    You should read this: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/advf...iew&advfaqid=6
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.
