Thread: Ok, I read the FAQs but have a few questions.

Ok well I have been into computers for a while, but never into the whole CarPC scene. I have a spare computer at home with a 2.4ghz p4 processor, 1gb ram, 150gb hdd, and onboard video/sound. I'm not sure was PSU is on it. I'm going to be installing the CarPC into my Mazda 3, probably in the glove box. I also have a power inverter already installed in my car. It's wired from the battery, through a 30amp fuse, to under the seat. Moving it to the glove box wouldn't be a problem. So from what I can tell, I need a "shutdown" module to control the shutdown process of the computer. So can I basically take apart the computer in my house, install it in the glovebox(neatly of course), and call it a day? Haha, I'm just kidding. I would buy a 7" monitor and install it under my headunit. I have an auxillary port in my center console, and as of right now I assume that I can run an aux-aux cord from my sound card to the aux port. The VGA from the monitor to the back of the glovebox.
Here's my confusion; power supplies. I've read the FAQ but I was still somewhat confused. Can I use a regular desktop PSU and plug it into my inverter? Also, with a VGA touch screen monitor, can I still navigate the windows desktop? I also don't understand what the Car will do if I just turn the car off and run into a store.
