Newb Question

I really want to build a carputer. I have everything picked out on newegg. I was wondering for another way to start the computer. This would only be possible for cars with remotes. Would it be possible to wire the power supply to turn on after you unlock your doors with the remote and open the door? I would think this requires a relay but I'm not sure exactly how relays do what they do and why. All I know is that it is needed for stuff. This idea may sound crazy but let me know what you think.

Yes, it's very possible and has even been done before.

Not crazy and not too hard if you can read a wiring diagram. Yes you will need a relay and you will need to find where your remote triggers the relay for the power locks. Not sure if this is what you want to do or not...b/c then every time you unlocked your door it would fire off....so say you ran out to get something from your car and then it came on. Another thought is to wire it to the aux output on your keyless entry if you have one.
