The M2 won't work. IT's for an ATX-compatible motherboard, which this HP unit is not.

The package comes with a car cigarette lighter plug that is connected to a "power brick".
You can use that and get a shutdown controller, as one option.

Check the power brick for an output voltage. Depending on that, you may be able to use a Carnetix power supply that has a built in shutdown controller.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

upon a little extra research, I was checking out the carnetix 1900, and it handles 140 watts, and i looked at their install instructions, and they hook up the mac mini with it by cutting the brick, and wiring it directly to the 1900...would this work on my setup? an external psu hardwired to my brick. I'd still get all the cool features like startup/shutdown, battery monitering, and get to hook up my lilliput to it... 140 watts will be enough right? will this work? I need to get this done, and having the wrong power supply has stopped everything for the moment. Carnetix 1900 ftw?

That's what you get for being cheap and not researching before buying.

very constructive...i will avoid getting myself banned by bashing u... I did research, I said I wasnt very familiar with dc dc psu's. I was gonna go with an inverter, but found it wasnt the best route. I asked for a good psu that would handle my load, and was suggested the atx. I bought it. said it supports pentium. i have a p3, not p4, so its not supported. i wasted 90 bucks on something i cant use as of now. upon more research, it seems that the carnetix can be hardwired to my unit, because its external. but, I am no expert, so I am asking the experts if it will handle the load of my carputer, and be the solution i need for power. when i get my answer, I will buy or not buy. but, I have done my research...
