You also need to know the spacing. It is called a ribbon cable.
The import dimensions are width and then the spacing between each pin as well as number of pins.
Usually inserted into a ZIF socket. You cant make that. There is just no way.
Was wondering what this is and if possible where I could purchase one. I'm looking for a 12-12pin one and a 8-8pin one.
The one pictured is the 12pin one. Its about 7mm wide, 128mm long and I think 1/2mm in thickness. Its really small and is from the internals of a laptop. I wouldn't mind finding any online stores that would sell these, but I'm also willing to make some of my own if possible.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks - Jon

I wouldn't be able to measure the exact spacing between the wires as they are extremely small, I have no way of figuring out the space. Also I just want to make sure if it is a ribbon cable. In the pictures you see I have peeled some of the metal shielding, The plastics inside has a gloss shine to it, unlike a traditional ribbon cable such as the ones used on ide HD's/floppy etc. Also why is there a metal shielding or is it just an alternative to the HD cables minus the outer plastic covering.
