Newb looking for alternatives to Headunits

    Greetings,

I compete on the same team as RedGtiVr6 or Jan as some of you may know her. I have been out of the competition scene for this season due to some personal and medical reasons. I plan on competing again next season and would like to check into this car-pc thingy that is becoming more popular. I know that Jan and another of our team-mates, Chris are both using Car-PC's and I am very curious about the usage of this. I currently work for Dell as a Storage Technical Support Analyst working with PowerVault Tape Libraries. I am familiar with computer technologies although not so good at putting computers together. I know I can count on Jan and Chris helping me out when it is time to tune for a competition, but, I would like the help of others here to put me on the correct path.

The music I listen to is mostly modern jazz and Contemporary Christian music, but I am far from a bible-thumping crazy. I just like that they don't add any negative influences in their music. And most of it is very well mixed. I compete Sound Q in the Intermediate Consumer 601+ although our team leader has mentioned that he needs someone in the lower power category, so I will probably go where I am needed most. Anywhoo...I look forward to chatting with you guys on the intimate details concerning car-pc's and will help anyone out with any questions you might have for me concerning SQ and/or competition.

    Until then,

Actually, there aren't any more power classes in USACi or IASCA. I'd compete where you're comfortable really.

First thing about the CarPC is to figure out what you want to do with it. Do you want to keep your head unit or no? Are you willing to go headunitless or no? From there you can pick out the rest. I'd recomend you going to http://store.mp3car.com and checking out the custom car computers. They are prebuilt (if you opt for it) and are easier to install.
