Hey im in the same boat still planning everything i need except still looking for a car i like enough to be bothered putting all that effort into you dont have that problem though mazda 6's are awsum.
Hi everyone.
First post here but I've been browsing the forums for a few weeks now soaking up all the info I can about building a car PC. Haven't really decided on the components I will use for the PC yet but I'm in no rush and would like to have it built (or at least a partial build with PC and LCD installed and working) by next spring. The only thing that really concerns me is the electrical system which seems to be the biggest part.
I'll be taking tons of pictures and will keep a pretty decent work log once I start in a week or two.

:) With my car i might as well be Flinstoning it :)
Welcome
Yes, mazda6's have a lot of options for installing add-ons to the stock radio or even going the aftermarket HU, and there is a new motorized touchscreen available that is a direct replacement for the map pocket above the stock radio.
Status of Mini Install: Ordering parts and working on docking station.
I saw that LCD over on 6club but i missed the group buys and the company that makes them doesn't ship to Canada last I saw. I'm going to try and find a wrecked 6 with nav and get some spare parts as well as the LCD for the map compartment. Failing that I just go with an in dash touchscreen.
I'm in the same boat regarding buying a car too. Ever since visiting this forum I have wanted to build my own car PC, but I wasn't about to do it in my crappy Holden Barina!!
Heading off early tomorrow with my cousin (works at a dealership) to take a good look at a 2000 Mitsubishi Verada 3.5L V6 I want to buy. 112000kms, spoiler, alloys, cruise, power everything, climate control and lots of space. Enough room in the boot to fit 50 car computers, and a nice big double-din for a display!! Just hope he can't find anything wrong with it so I can drive it home tomorrow!
Needs a bit of lowering, but otherwise![]()
Nice, I hope the car runs well so you can pick up your new set of wheels.
