    AM Radio (yes, another one)

I know it's an ongoing project and it's been beaten to death, but I can't find the answers with search, so here goes...

I'm frustrated by the fact that OEMs can have built in am/fm radios, but we can't. Still, realizing that the pc hardware is a ways off, I seem to remember a touchscreen LCD that also had built-in features (radio, cd, dvd, etc.). Basically it was an all-in-one headunit that also had a LCD aux that could control a carputer.

Also, it was 2 DIN (for my GM).

Anyone know what I'm talking about? Where to find one?

    Thanks.

No, I'm looking for just the display unit (with the radio). I want to build my own puter behind it.

A completed system, with all those components marked up another 100%, isn't my idea of a smart use of my money.

This is one option that has the display, radio, and amp, but not optical drive

This is what I'm talking about, but in a non-pullout model (though I suppose this one could be rebuilt).

    Any other ideas?

This is another complete system, but without the puter aspects!

Look, basically I'm looking for AM/FM radio with OEM quality.

I'm blown away the we haven't figured this problem out yet.

There is one other option for radio. Check out http://hd-radio.home.comcast.net/. They list two add-on HD tuners that also handle standard FM/AM. I currently have the DMHD-1000 running through my stock head unit until I get my carputer together. It will eventually feed out into a Soundblaster USB sound card, into the pc, out to the sound card, and finally to an amp.

    Genius!

That will do the trick better than a radio in the display. Thanks.
