    engine noise through speakers

I just installed an amp to my front speakers. Its not cheap, its an MTX.Now i have engine noise in my speakers. The power wire is on the drivers side and the speaker wires on the passenger side. But they meet up in the back and come through in the same spot.Could that be the problem?I'd appreciate any help.

    keep all wire seperate.
ground close to chassis, and often...or to battery.

    clean all alternator connections

    solder all joints

use large gage wire dependant on wattage

if its just for fronts mount the amp under a seat.

this will all help...there are noise supressors too
    06 Altima..SER front bumper.
    CAR PC.....soon to be true!!

    Thanks for the advice.

I'll mount the amp under the passenger seat.

It has been my experience that power and speaker wires seldom are the cause of engine noise (not that it can't be). I would check the routing of the RCA cables from the source to the amp - make sure they aren't routed near OEM wire bundles as there are many signal circuits in the car's electronics that can create audio noise. But first and foremost is a ground loop - usually caused by lack of a central ground (or insufficient ground). To fix that, the source unit and amp (and anything else in the signal chain) all share a common ground point.

My cd player only has one RCA output.MY brother told me how i can hook it up so its kinda rigged, but it works. Also, the speakers with the engine noise start to smell if i play it loud for a minute.I'm thinking the speakers can't handle the power of the amp.
