Thread: Monsoon Sound System

I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT with a monsoon sound system in it. It's loud, but only when I turn it up loud...The back speakers have no beat to them what so ever. I have to listen to rap if I even want a little performance from this sound system. In fact, it turns out that there is a 200 watt amp in the trunk. I didn't even know it was back there until my uncle was poking around (he is an auto body mechanic and also installs Alpine sound systems).

I am car sound system retarded, and my uncle is always busy. So I decided to do something to my sound system by myself. I was wondering if I could:
A) Buy a bigger amp and two subs and just take the old amp out
B) Buy a HU, all new speakers, a new amp, and the subwoofers.
Or, should I just replace the HU?

My only concern is that by buying a bigger amp and HU it would blow the stock speakers.

Any advice from people that have replaced a monsoon system with something different would be greatly appreciated.

Also, are Walmart HU worth anything?
