thought id pop in and introduce myself and my propsed install

Hello all.. well new to this game and have been toying with the carputer idea for ages. as it stands im planning on using an mini atx desktop board with a 160gb hardrive 2.4ghz amd duo processor 1gb ram and a dvd rw drive. iv been looking at the opus 320dc-dc powersupply and still testing all the front ends at the moment. im also trying to decide which car to incorporsate this into. liking the ideas of an bmw and lnking it in with i bus but dont think my budget will stretch to this so still thinking. would love to incorperate a car engine read out into the system as well. all my audio output will be through a dls 7600 amp wich will be running active into a set of rainbow front speakers and a diamond adio sub...mmmm yummy. so pleaase give feed back on my install. any help or improvements you think could be made. i know its a beast but would love to be able to do everything on the road as im a sales rep and a full pc on the road would be perfect... cheers guys alan

3.2GHz is a bit over kill. Any reason for it?

You're going to be running higher end audio components but you don't mention specifically how you're going from the PC to the audio system...I sure hope you're not just planning on going straight from the PC to the amp...

sorry not 3.2 but 2.4 lol am i bad. well i was going to run from from sound card direct to amps as i want to avoid a hu or anything like the h700.. sounds like this is gonna cause me problems???

I'd do a decent amount more research on the topic then.

Low voltage inputs to an amplifier will cause problems. 90% of sound cards out there don't put out enough voltage to adequately drive a high end set-up.

what if i used the meridian sound card iv heard you talk about on other threads. i only really need one 4>volt rca out or jack to run to my amp as the amp will repeat the signal to appropriate channels and this is how ill be running active as it has full adjustability from the amp. so no need for computer to do cross overs or eq'ing. have been looking loads at sound cards etc but none state there preout voltages??? help please. im not asking to be spoon fed just help in the section. i know about the kx project and if need be i could use this but dont really need to due to the complete adjustability from my amp....

Sure, if you can find that sound card any more...it was a limited production card.

None of us could find the voltage outs on hardly any sound card, we did the research and posted the results as we found them. Find a sound card you're interested in and search these forums for information about it.
