Thread: Advice on a carpc in my STi

Hi,

I have had an Omnifi DMP1 which I've used for a couple years now to play mp3's off its hard drive. It's worked great - but it's slowly breaking day by day. It's getting almost impossible to scroll through songs, albums, etc.

So, I am thinking about a Car PC. The challenge is, I don't want a crazy setup and don't want to spend an unreasonable amount of money. I basically, have double DIN to work with. I prefer not to have to use some external amplifier in favor of it being in dash either in the form of my Sony head unit or the screen perhaps.

I'm looking for touchscreen, dvd, mp3 and at some point I may use GPS but it doesn't have to function right away. For now, I want to get back to playing mp3's off the hard drive (I hate CD's!)

I am a huge fan of the Infill G4, but nearly 2k is pretty unreasonable. If there's any way I could get the carputer and screen in dash with an amplifier I'd be very content. Otherwise, I'm ok having to put the carputer under the passenger seat and using the dash for the screen/amplifier.

I'm looking for any advice on parts/configuration. Thanks in advance VERY much!
