My CARPC system idea, Is it possible? Help!

So, I want to install a CARPC. I have a PC built, programmed, and RR installed.

I have an 08 Nissan Xterra. It has the rockford fosgate HU and speakers which I will most likely replace. I have Pioneer premier with Blue Tooth

Ultimate goal. Run my mp3 collection, nav, internet etc...Keep my stock options.

Wants - I want to keep my steering wheel conrtols - Volume, Change track, Mode, Phone(Bluetooth). (Understand mode might not be possible.)

First idea...Keep the RF HU or an equivelant to sustain use of the factory steering wheel conrtols and the 6CD in dash. Run it through AUX from the CARPC. This would suck because I would have to find somewhere else to put the TFT touchscreen and the options are small.

Second idea... Ditch the HU all together, place the touchscreen in dash. Is it possible to keep the steering wheel controls? The bluetooth? The blutooth runs through the stock deck and the microphone is in the ceiling (factory). The activation for the phone is on the steering wheel as well. I understand some people will move the HU to under the seat or in the glovebox to maintain its controll over the system...ANY IDEAS guys? Any input would be most appreciated.

Both of your scenarios are possible.
The second will involve more work, particularly to get the steering wheel controls functional.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

I appreciate the reply...I am ready to work, I just need the guidance for the steering wheel controls. I would like to maintain full functionality. Is there an adapter? I haven't found one.

would it be possible for you to move the factory deck a couple inches deeper into the dash? if so you could just put your lcd in front of it

That's a great Idea, I haven't acutally ripped the deck out yet. However, from what I ready there is absolutely NO room back there to do anything. I guess there's a cross member in the way. I'd rather not relocate the deck, I would only lose the CD capabilty. I am at the point of getting the Xenarc 700 w/ the Xenarc Windshield mount and mounting low so it hovers above the deck. Here's a pic of the dash setup, let me know if you have any ideas.

Now I am starting to think maybe mount the Xenarc right in that top tray, almost flush with the HU, and fold it down with the screen facing down when I exit the vehicle so it's not so conspicuous...Door is still open to suggestion though.
