If you are "really dumb in this area", then take your car to a car stereo shop and tell them what you need and/or want.
Choose a product, make your purchase and let the shop install it.

Is it more cost effective to run a PC? In most cases, yes. However, if you know absolutely nothing about installing car electonics, you will need to learn as much as necessary to install properly and (more importantly) safely.
Only you can say whether that is worth it to you.

Also, there's no point in resurracting a thread that lie dormant for over a year and a half to say "I''m a newbie! Help me!".
I've split your post off to its own thread in the Newbie forum.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?

to know how much it costs you need to do some research and find out.

ESPECIALLY since you're saying you don't know that much.

You need to do the research yourself and find these answers on your own. You need to understand what it is you're getting yourself into and you need to know what to do to troubleshoot the issues that WILL arise.

People on this forum aren't here to spoon feed newcomers like your self. Show them that you're willing to put a bit of your own effort into it and they are more than willing to help out.
