    Newbie from Dubai

Hi Everyone. I am new to the forum and the hobby. Last two days I just reading through some of the posts. Now I am hooked to the hobby. I would like to built a motorbike PC for my new proposed BMW GS1200 Adventure with GPS, Bluetooth, Voice prompt and Music.

Is there a water proof display with day light view available in the market?

    Thanks

    Nelson

You're going to have a hard time finding a waterproof computer, the display might not be that hard. I'm not familiar with any on the market. They are going to be extremely specialized and very pricey. You're going to need an industrial monitor.

Thank you for your inputs. Can you suggest some places for industrial grade water proof displays.

I don't need a water proof computer. I hope, I can fix the computer in my metal panniers. The panniers are water proof.

No - that's why I was giving you information to help you find them and why I said:

you can always try to make something yourself. You only need it to be shower proof and not water tight. This is easily achievable with some thick plastic, like clear table cloths. You just need to keep gravity on your side!

id worry about trapping heat, or risk of sucking in water...kinda like an intake you would need some sort of bypass valve

If you have the money look at a ultra rugged PDA. Since it's a bike, the reduced size and weight would be a good thing.

The folk I work for make a couple such PDAs:

    Tirmble Nomad http://www.trimble.com/nomad.shtml
New, ultra fast processor - high res screen (480x640) - multiple keypad options - built in GPS - bluetooth - wifi - water, shock, dust proof - etc etc

    Trimble Recon XC http://www.trimble.com/recon_xc_ed.shtml
Lower cost than the Nomad, 240x320 screen - smaller in size - enough grunt to playback movies, music and sat nav - GPS (XC model) - bluetooth - wifi - water, shock, dust proof - etc etc

+ there are some excellent Windows Mobile based navigation apps around.

Thanks for the links. I visited the pages. But the PDA's memory is the problem. I would like to plug my helmet camera and store video files of my long rides.

I'm 99.9% sure they have a empty CF slot for storage expansion.

There may also be the option of having the built in storage upgraded.

Send me a PM if you're genuienly interested, as not sure how much I can discuss publically.
