I have been looking around the site and forums for a little while now but really, im struggling a bit with all the information that is given. What i would like is for someone who has been in the scene and is alot more knowledgeable than i to help me design a system.

I have a holden rodeo (or in the states... an isuzu pickup) and it is air bagged. i have had the idea of controlling the airbags via a computer setup, via a touch screen. I realize this will require a program to be written but im fine with that. I also have a switching device that workes through a serial port. After looking around here i also would like to use a computer for all other in-car entertainment. Im not too fussed with gps yet, or bluetooth, but would like to be able to add these later.

I would like to run dual touch screens, one solely for controlling the bags (would like to be a motorised indash touchscreen without CD/DVD slot) and a second screen (once again motorised indash touchscreen but this time with CD/DVD slot) to run all the rest of the things an in-car computer system can. I would also like to know if i can run a surround sound card in my computer that i can simply run straight to amps thus negating the need for any kind of headunit.

Your dual-screen setup sounds unusual. Certainly not the norm, but definitely workable. It won't be cheap.

So basically wondering what you guys would use, ie what motherboard, soundcard, video card, screens etc etc ??? Thank you so so much for any help in advance. I know its alot to take in.
