Where's the PC?
Your diagram is very confusing to me, maybe it's just me?
Hi guys,
I'm new to the forum, so first of "Hello, everybody!!!"
Sorry, if this is posted twice, i had trouble getting my first post showed.
Ok, I have been reading, and collect info in the whole wiring and powering process.
Currently, I have a opus 250w and mini-pc ready to go just need power. I mostly worry about the wire gauges and fuses stuffs, so i make a diagram to ask for advice and corrections.
Please let me know whether this setup are correct or not. Also i would like to add amplifier and subs in the future, so i hope this diagram also can accommodate that. Thanks a lot, guys.
Bellow is the diagram

why do you need 3 +12 volts line and 3 grounds to your power source? and your missing a switched +12 volts for your PSU and PC.
hi guys, thanks for the responds.
Sorry about the confusing diagram. I left the PC out of the diagram since it just a simple plugging the 20 pins plug from Opus powersupply to the pc.
The opus 250w i received had 3 yellows 12 volts and 3 blacks wire for ground. So i figure i'll twist 3 yellow all together then connect to the power source from batter, and 3 black ground wires will also be twisted together then connect to the ground distributor which will ground to the car chassis.
I don't know why this power supply has 3 yellows and 3 blacks.
The opus power supply have 10 wires
1 - ground black
2 - ground black
3 - ground black
4 - on/off or acc RED
5 - 12v out - 12v regulated ORANGE
6 - Battery YELLOW
7 - battery YELLOW
8 - battery YELLOW
9 - Remote 1 on/off BLUE/WHITE
10 - remote 2 on/off BLUE
It's to handle the full electrical load that the Opus 320 can draw.
It's a cheesy solution, IMHO. It would be far better to use just one thicker wire (say 10or 12awg) than three lesser wires. If you have one or two come disconnected, you're going to overload that wire.
You're preaching to the choir, Brother Beavis.
You might want to make your "Shut off power switch" operate a relay to switch that 4 gauge power cable.

Binary.h4x, you mentioned a relay, which is something i have no knowledge about. I'm reading about relay to figure out what it is, so far my understand of it very limited, beside knowing that it supposes to help protecting stereo components from damaging. I'll continue to learn more about it.
DarquePervert. In that case i'll solder those 3 wires together to make sure a tight connection before connect to power source. Also i looked up your setup diagram, DarquePervert. Did you use a StreetWires FHXS4 AFS Fuse Holder? because i was going to order the "Rockford Fosgate RFFAGU Fuse Holder", but the highest amp output is 60 which i'm not sure will be enough for the carpc and other amps and sub or not.
hi guys, regard to my diagram. I want to use 4 gauge wire for the power line and have a switch for it, incase i want to stop power being draw from the battery. However, is there a switch that has feet big enough to solder a 4 gauge wire to without looking un-proportion (since 4 gauge wire is quite big and most of switch's feet not as big) .
That's why you should use a relay.
A relay can use a small amount of current to control a switch for a larger amount of current (in simplistic terms).
Using a relay will allow you to use a smaller, more aesthetically pleasing switch, rather than something that looks straight out of Dr. Frankensteins laboratory.
thanks, DP. I think i start to understand now. I tried to look for a replay that can accommodate the big 4 gauge wire, but no luck. Can you point me to the right direction?
Much appreciate.
