Thread: Upgrading to CF ?

Hi,
I’ve been lurking this forum for some days and registered today.
It’s really amazing, what some of you build from scratch for your car. I’m currently building up a CarPC with a friend of mine for his car. Everything is working this far but I’m a bit concerned with that Sata Drive currently running everything. There is no "G-Meter" in his car, but sometimes the car bumps on the streets (in Germany) and I think, that’s only a matter of time, when the hdd dies.
So there’s the possibility of using flash drives (Compact Flashes are quite cheap imo) but I don’t know, whether the cf card can handle surfing the web (the temporarily internet files). As far as I understand everyone who’s using CF cards uses EWF and these contents from the web are going directly into system RAM, but when there’s no space left, the CF card will be written anyway.
Well does anyone have some experience with CF Cards and Wi-Fi?
