Welcome. Good luck with your project. The FAQs are definitely the best place to start if you are brand new to everything. But in the end if you can't find the answer feel free to ask.
well, been thinking lately about adding a carpc to my 350z. main reason is to control the haltech engine management without having to carry a laptop with me. the screen will have to go where the dbl din stock stereo is, so that will be gone, so i will have some pretty stiff requirements on audio control as the next step is to add a very high end stereo system.
i have been building cars for many years, from the engines to paint, but have to admit i am abit of a mental midget when it comes building a carpc from scratch. hoping to get a VERY quick crash course on this site to get something together in the next few weeks before a large car show in my town.
my questions will prolly be on the computer infant levels, but will search alot and pick it up fast!

It will be difficult to get something together that quickly, especially if the engine management software you are running has any special requirements. One "quick" (but expensive) option might be the Infill G4 from the mp3car.com store...should fit the double DIN space nicely. A cheaper option would be to use the "beginner computer system" on the mp3car.com store and mount the CPU case in one of the storage compartments behind the seats...although I'm not sure of the dimensions of the case. Then you'd need to fabricate the LCD into the double DIN dash opening...which typically takes a bit of time to do, depending on the method and results desired.
Good luck.
