    Import >>> US Domestic

Anyways, just because the people you have seen do it do it poorly doesnt mean you cant. if you have the fab skills for a show car, then you should be able to come up with something.

What about pods similar to guages "ontop" of the current dash area to hold the blowers. That would just require a simple reroute of the vent areas. Either in individual pockets, or one big curved one over it. This one big curved one would also have the benefit of being a sun shield. So then you get your 1.5din area as well as the blower area.

Or you could take a hint from the civic and put the climate control vertically. This would give you a good height and width. It looks like it should all fit. If you put the controls on the left side close to the fold, then the screen inwards a bit centred.

uh oh.... import lover.... we may have a fight on our hands... I'll ignore your comments out of respect for mp3car.

the car is a show car as in how stock it is, as it is a collector edition in perfect condition, the head unit i'm willing to upgrade but i'm keeping the old one for shows. any fabrication is out of the question.

I myself am imprted as far as the US goes, so that's a good reason! And yes my car is an import. Not a US import (not manufactured in the states).

if you arent able to modify at all, then indash probably is best. They make 1/2 din units you may want to look into. A 1/2 din screen with a 1din PC (lilliput makes a 1din case for the m10K I believe) should work.

Only problem is that when the screen is up, the vents would need to be repositioned.

hmm, well that can be taken care of with an extended mounting kit, i had one with a 1din headunit in my old trans am.

so you mean this one: 1/2 din motorized vga touchscreen monitor

i could defintely work with something like that... although ordering from russia... and spending $500 just for the screen...

here is a recent Russian one: 1/2 din motorized vga touchscreen monitor

I guess I got my wires crossed. I thought it was a lilliput, but I guess not.

I was sure there was another though...

Flip out screen is probably your best bet. Although I hesitate to recommend that...

If it was my car I'd move the AC stuff, but I realize that you may not want to do that.

I think that small screen may be too small. The 7" screens are pushing it as it is.

BTW, are you just a Gundam fan or a modeller?

I'm definitely not relocating my ac, i've seen car pc's in this model car before with 7" screens where they relocated them and they're absolutely hideos. they usually mount them in the glove compartment... it's terrible...

the 5" screen is a composite only, non touch screen with a resolution of 320 x 240. it's pretty much useless, and I can't find a touch screen bigger than 3.5 but smaller than 7 ANYWHERE.http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/newr...e=1&p=1179980#

oh yeah "get a better car"? nice joke, mr. civic "giggle"

anyway, this is a show car and nothing I do to it can look bad, and moving the ac or mounting an lcd away from the dash... frankly, look bad. great functionality, but zero aesthetics.
I think you should move the A/C controls, some people have done great by putting the controls in the glove box... that could work? You could also consider putting the PC in the glove box.... get a flip out and because you opening is so big.... the kit you buy for the flip out will have enough room for dvd rom slot and USB slot. Thats the nice thing with carpc setups there is no set way. If you decide to use the 3.5 screen, because you dont want to put the pc anywhere else, then so be it, but you will not be happy with it. Yea, on paper it looks good, but i quarantee it wont in the real finish product.

PS: just buy a single din flip out. They have aftermarket kits to fill in the spacing. leaving space for you dvd rom and usb.

Just a fan I suppose, I used to do the models when i was younger but they all break all the time. i do own almost every gundam series though (not g or sd... those suck) and i'm currently watching/loving Gundam 00.

I've seen pictures of the ac controls in the glove box... i couldn't deal with that, that'd be more of a hassle every day than the small screen would. but a flip out screen definitely sounds like the way to go.

does anyone know if it's possible to remove the metal casing from a single din flip out and get some extra space underneath? or is that space filled with parts that are absolutely necessary...?
