1. is it possible to us a usb power cord you know the ones that get used on 2.5" external hard drives that don't get enough power from the usb to power a usb hub.
2.where can I find usb ports to hook up to the pins on the mother board to add more usb ports
How about looking into a multi-port USB hub?
Plugs into your pc's USB port, and splits it into 4 ports:
ok then if I put a usb hub to spit it to 4 how to i get the power to the hub if someone could tell me step by step instructions that would be great
If your powered hub uses 5v (it will say on the power brick, or on the back) then you can tap into one of the molex plugs on your carputer...(they are the 4 pin white plugs you stick in the hard drive)...Off the top of my head I don't remember which pin is 5v...but you can use a voltmeter and find out yourself...the two black wires are ground.
If your hub isn't 5v, then you will need a regulator to supply around 2amps at your voltage from 12v.
I guess that some users need more current from their USB hub, but I ran the USB cable from the rear of my car to the front, and plugged the hub into the cable (it has reverse gender fitting).
Plugged into my USB 4-port hub
>Griffing Powermate "volume" controller
>touchscreen (Lilliput 629)
>extra port used for thumb drive, or whatever...
In my case, the USB hub self-powers all those devices without the need for any other power source.
Otherwise, you might need to do like Dodge suggests.
if you get a 4-port usb hub that is 5v you can use a psp car charger to power it, since they are 5v.
