BMW E46... remove center drawer/tray

This one I can't figure out... there's a slideout drawer/tray above the ashtray and below the ac controls. I can't figure out how to remove the tray. Any ideas?

If I remember correctly it just pulls out..... little tabs on the side that hold it in. Could be that you have to take out the dash trim first. I've had mine out a few times. it's not that hard. Just be patient.
