Please need help my car pc keeps reseting when it loads windows xp

Hi just tried to install my car pc today my hardwear is as follows

    AMD XP 2400
    Gigabyte Micro ATX motherboard
    512 DDR RAM
    M2-ATX 160w Power Supply
    120gb IBM HDD

My car is a lexus IS 200

I hooked it all up got it all running, but everytime it is just about to start windows XP it restarts, it gets to the logging in screen and it will keep doing it everytime. I can only log in as safe mode

I have tried it back in my home connected to a nomal ATX power supply and it works fine.

Could this be becouase 160W of power is to low to fun the system as i dont really have an idea as to why it is doing this, do i need to buy a more powerfull DC to DC power supply like the OPUS 330W power supply

Any help would be greatly appreciated, plz im really confused as to what the issue is thanks

If it loads fine when connected to a regular PSU then that should rule out any sort of driver issues (which is what normally stops XP booting properly.) Have you got any optical drives, AGP video cards, extra USB devices or other power-sucking sources in your system? Have you used a power calculator website to see what your system is trying to draw? Check these things before you shell out on an expensive replacement PSU.

If you want to try a power calculator, hitting the "search" button at the top of the board and typing "power calculator" is a good place to start.

Thanks mate just did a seach looks like the AMD XP uses over the power that the M2-ATX 160w can supply to the 5v rail so looks like gonna have to get a mobile intel system

    Or get a different PSU.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.
