It's usually in the trunk behind the carpet on the driver side of the trunk, just above your rear wheel wells, but you may simply not have an amp.
If that is the case, you need to get an amp.
It may be on the other side for UK vehicles?
Hello, i have done a lot of research on carputers, and am left with one last thing that i cant find out.
I have a UK BMW E36 328i, and i cannot find the stock amp. I have searched, and have seen pictures of the amp, and its location, and it is not there on my car.
Would my speakers and system work without an amp?, and if so , how could i wire one up so i can plug my computer into it?!!
I want to get rid of my awful stock unit and replace with a carputer system without any headunit.
I know there are posts on this subject, but this is car specific. Sorry!
I am a musician, so know a fair amount about audio, but am completely stumped with car audio wiring etc..!
Thankyou in advance for any help!
Rob.

Hey thanks for the reply. Yeh ive had all the carpets and sides out of my boot, nothing there, so i guess i dont have one.
Ok, ill get an amp, gonna need some serious help off friends to install it!
Can you advise me on an amp to get for an E36, or are they easily universal? (I dont care about amazing quality, money is an issue though!)
Do i collect all the speaker and power wires off the ISO, or somewhere else and leave an ISO flopping about?!!
Cheers,
Rob.

The headunit probably has an amp built in. That's what mine has.
