Hi I have a 2001 Jetta 1.8T and I have recently been looking into upgrading my sound system. I thought I may try a aftermarket deck. A buddy of mine suggested that I just build a Carputer so I can slap on a GPS and play MP3s and movies possibly as well. So I decided to actually post here so I can learn a little more about my options and the costs everything.

He had one in his old car. He is a little more technologically inclined than I am, although I don't think building a carputer is over my head, although I am sure there is some details that I will have to read over.
Thanks for the tips. I am still reading up on what exactly I will need, and I am trying to ballpark how much a decent carputer and sound system will run me.
