I am concidering a similar system based on an AMD single core processor. I am mainly interested in quick boot and shutdowns. However, I do run RR and streets and trips 2008 at the same time.

What is your boot time? And in your opinion, what factors are more inportant in respect to boot times:What would be the order of determining factors for boot speeds? processor speed/ # cores, RAM/ total amount or using multiple sticks to take advantage of dual channel support, HD speed, or OS/ OS optimization?
Before this was on my back seat, LMAO, you can see why i moved it to this new home. Me, I have always prefered AMD, so when I found the KINO-690S1, I was very happy. Now as a rule the more devices and RAM you have the longer the boot time. I have over 13 USB devices so my post takes about 4 seconds, then about 8 to go to Windows. Without everything connected I boot at about 5 to 6 seconds. Shut down isnt 2 long id say about 6 seconds also, if I had less RAM it would be faster. When coming out of resume/hibernation the PC is very fast about 6 seconds for that. So basically my system suffers a long time from cold boots, which I rarely have to do anyways. Currently I have DDR2 667mhz and I honestly dont know if there is a diffrence since its the RAM I have always used. My hard drive is a 7200 RPM Toshiba Sata drive, is way more responsive then the older 5900 RPM toshiba IDE drive I had before. I have so many devices I was scared to optimize Windows completely, I stripped all language packs out of it, intergrated SP3 with it (my system would not run without SP3) and took out other stuff. In total the install disk was 330MB. I used nLite, which is awsome. I hope I got most of your questions.

So to recap: The more RAM the longer hibernation takes. The more devices you have, the longer the post and boot time.

PS: This system is awsome when multitasking, My backseat people can be doing thier thing, and I can be doing mine with no hic ups. This includes them playing 3D games, etc.

Here is what I had in mind:
1:JetWay JM26GT3-SVP Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
    2:AMD LE-1660 2.8GHz AM2 45W Single-Core Processor
    3:Kingston 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
    4:Western Digital Caviar SE WD800AAJS 80GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

Looking at your system, I shouldn't have any power issues. I am still undecided on the power Supplies with integrated Startup/Shutdown Controllers. Also, Im debating the Ram. The MB has dual channel support, so I think it would be better to have two sticks. If I go too big, the boot time will decrease. And I don't know yet if the bios has the quick boot option. Wait and see I guess...

Oh, and I love your budget %. True, true, true.

All though it is a nice price, I would stay away from JetWay, I was reading the reviews and most are bad, alot say its DOA. Since you are using a Micro ATX board, and I know you want it for power, I would get the OPUS 320, that way you wont have to worry about maxing it out, and you could also power the screen and other devices from it. Its pricey, but its also the best you can buy and their customer support is great. Buy directly from them to get a good price. My MoBo has the quick boot enabled, I can only image it would take really long to boot then for me..

HAHAHAHAHA, I dont love my budget... I only wanted to spend 1,400.00. You can see that was blown out of the water because of my obsession with being power hungry. If I could go back in time I would shop wiser and cheaper, lol.
