Compiling comprehensive parts list for my AUDI carputer install - help!

I have been playing around with ideas in my head and have been browsing for awhile, but I would still consider myself a nooB. Please help me compile a 100% comprehensive parts list to complete my carputer project! I think I can figure out how it goes together, but I need your help with selecting the right parts. I am planning on running headless. I would like to keep the price down without cutting corners. I want a solid setup but do not want to break the bank.

Vehicle: 2001 Audi S4, 6 speed, Nogaro Blue (Bose stereo)

    PARTS I CURRENTLY HAVE:
--Kicker KX650.4 4x125w RMS amp for my components
    --JBL C608GTi components
--Lilliput 7" touch screen (PLAN ON CHANGING)
    --2.7GHz Pentium 4 Compaq desktop

My plan consists of the following:
-Removing the stock Audi Symphony headunit completely, replacing with a Double-Din enclosure
    -Running a Xenarc IDT700 flip-out screen (single din) ($400)
-Filling the second din with a cubby (or??? suggestions)
-Having the P4 desktop in the trunk.

Power supply: I was planning on a P2140 by Carnetix ($135). With the right front-end etc, this will take care of all of my power issues, startup/shutdown etc, correct?

I can figure out my front-end/keyboard/cd-drive/mouse.

    Aside from:
    Pentium 4 Desktop (Compaq)
    Kicker 4-channel amp
    JBL Component Speakers
    P2140 Power supply/controller
    Xenarc IDT700 Flip-out
    Good external sound-card (suggestions?)

I'm not sure what else I need.

Do you already have the desktop? I ask because the P4's can be real power hogs and you can purchase some economical CPU's for very cheap these days.

Yes I already have the desktop. If I were purchasing a new computer, I think I would go with a Mac Mini setup. Maybe in the future I will buy a more resources-economical carputer setup, but for now the P4 desktop I have will have to work.

Are there any drawbacks to a large desktop P4-style setup besides high power requirements? (Obviously, space is one as well...)

ok so let's take this one at a time.

    For startup/power supply/shutdown control for a P4 desktop...

Do I need anything besides the Carnetix 2140? Are there other options that will effectively do the same thing for a better price/value?

Those are the main drawbacks. Pretty big ones IMO...

If you get that carnetix it will handle the startup/shutdown. But it only puts 135W at 12V so you will want to make sure that is enough.

If I buy a "Bloat," do I need to run any sound card at all? I'm not sure what the setup is on the desktop right now.

Does bloat run completely independently of other sound processors in your system? What I'm getting at, is will I lose any SQ by running my sounds through BLOAT without any sort of decent sound card in the system?

Good question. I know windows is supposed to detect it as USB speakers, so I think you still need a soundcard. But I have never used that type of device (USB speakers) so I don't know for sure...
