Newbie Question... Can't load XP on Infill G4.

I finally saved up and bought a barebones G4 from cartft (so no it didn't have a preinstalled OS) and am running into a 'simple' newbie question that's got me at wits end. I've installed a new RAM module, a freshly formatted harddrive, and dvd drive - put everything back together and hooked it up to a spare battery. Turns on nicely - lights and the screen tilts but other than seeing the R2.02 in the corner and the system on hour-glass Nothing - The screen goes blank after that. I'm trying to load XP and get the ball rolling but can't seem to boot from the CD. I know there's something REALLY simple I'm missing but it's been a really long day so ANY advice would help. Sorry for such a noob question but thanks in advance...

i not sure if you tried this or had any luck cause your post post was since the 5th. but here goes.

with a keyboard pluged in boot the pc, hit delete to get into the bios. go to your boot options and make sure it says first boot from cd then hard drive. you will change that back later to boot from hard drive later on. then save and reboot. make sure your win xp cd is in the drive and it should work.

also make sure your power source has enough juice to keep ur pc up and going. cause if its just a battery that u had laying around......it may not be up to par to get the pc working to its full potential.

chris350 thanks for the reply - it worked perfectly. Only thing is I now seem to have a problem with the screen - shows the startup hourglass just fine but then I press delete and the screen starts to 'go fuzzy'. I know that's not very descriptive but it goes from crystal clear looking at the bios to illegible gibberish or 'TV snow'. I'll post the question elsewhere but just wanted to say your suggestion worked for the bios bit.

Once u get xp fully installed it should clear up. The display drivers have to be installed in order for the display to show correctly. Windows by default will use its video drivers while installing. Until u install video drivers and drivers for the display it won't so correctly. If u did that already and its still not showing right check cables and connections. Good luck and keep me posted.

Followed the above to get into the bios but nothing seemed to happen.
I turned off the unit with power button next to the cd drive, hit delete but the hourglass shows up, should I be waiting longer????

I've never used this PC before, but generally to get into BIOS you want to hit the relevant key as soon as the first screen pops up from power on. If your waiting until you see the mouse on the screen or the POST message text you've waited too long.
