Sorry, I can't help you there. I didn't go that far into the "homemade" thing. lol

Doesn't Home Depot carry that? Be cheaper than paying shipping.
    My opinion is my own.

No they don't. I thought for sure they would have, or even lowes. A no go to either of them. I have no where to place and conceal all of my things (if you are familiar with 300zx at all). It should be pretty nice once it's all done. I am in search again for a place today.

Most hardware stores carry sheet metal. I think around 18-24 (.0478"-.0239") guage in various sheet sizes, its pretty expensive. It seems to be cheaper even with shipping on ebay. id check again at home depot. i want to say its near where they keep chain and rope, screen doors, mailboxes, all that stuff... kind of a miscellaneous aisle.

i've seen it at Ace, HD, and Lowes. But check ebay.

I ended up finding a local place. I needed .05" thickness or 1/16. i know they are not the same but that variance was fine. Two pieces 40x30 and 40x34. It cost me $76 for it. Pretty much the price I expected. I will have it tomorrow.

do you know how tall your board is that you have dan? I just got in my aluminum today and I am going to start fabricating a casing for the mini itx and stuff. I'm assuming that will be the tallest part of the whole thing, the mini itx that is. Thanks.

I can't find that info, but here is my case, and there is room for a DVD above the motherboard.

that is all I needed. that should be good enough. I am building the custom case and I needed to know the height because I want it to be as short as possible really because it will look better in my car. 2.7" height is easily do-able with the size of case I want to build. It will house my amp also.

Here are some pics of the box I am making right now. i have never worked with aluminum and bending it was a little tricky. The bottom was the trial piece lol and the top is what will go over the bottom completely. I have to wait for my fans to come in so I can drill some holes for them, before I go ahead and carpet the pieces. i am going to fix the bottom piece tonight with some fiber glass.
