    Screen and Computer!

basically this is my delemma. i have an avhp4000dvd and i am goign to buy the new acer aspire... 1.5 gb and 120 gig hard drive with an atom prosessor... here are my questions

    1. will this laptop be able to handle GPS and bluetooth? (igulidance ect?)

    2. how will this hook up? s-video? if so will it look ok?

    3. can i run video and mp3's through the laptop as well?

    4. how good will the picture quality be?

    5. is there anything i can do to enhance the overall quality without switching head units?

if you can help me answer these questions that would be great thank you.

Look at the specs for the laptop. Does it have bluetooth? Is your GPS bluetooth, is it serial, is it USB (only you know atm)? Does the laptop have ports to match?

Composite video/TV out (assuming the laptop has the port - you didn't give enough info for the laptop, and I'm sure you can read the specs). It will look very very bad for anything involving text or fine detail.

    Yes.

Same question as second bit of question 2. Same answer as before (very very bad).

At the end of the day civic, if the screen you have doesn't support VGA, then no amount of electronic trickery is going to increase it's quality. Your options are simply to keep the screen and only use it for DVDs, or replace it with a better screen and use all the functions a CarPC can provide. There is neither a cheap nor an efficient compromise between the two.

And to add to that, the chances are that the touchscreen part will not work with the PC - it controls only the headunit itself.
